This kit features the super talented artist Melanie April. I have followed her on instagram (@ melanieaprilart) for her a while now, I love her watercolour art, it has such a magical energy about it. I really wanted to achieve the same magical feel with this kit.

STICKERS

You have three sheets of stickers this month. Firstly, you of course have a sheet of Melanie’s wonderful watercolour crystals. For the second sheet, I used more of Melanie’s stunning art work to make a sheet of mixed shaped stickers. Finally you have two large stickers inspired by geometric crystal shapes, with a metallic glitter accent. I thought these would be good to use maybe as title pages, as you have space to write inside.

JOURNAL CARDS

You have four journal cards of Melanie’s magical landscapes.

AMETHYST STONES

I couldn’t resit included some actual crystals in the kit! So you have packet of small amethyst stones. Amethyst is known for its many positive attributes and is said to radiate peace and calm.

GLITTER TUBE & METALLIC GLITTER PEN

One of the things I love about Melanie’s work is her subtle use of of shimmer and sparkle. It is really understated, but just adds a touch of magic here and there. So I have included two items to help you add your own touch of magic to your journal pages or art work. Firstly you have a little tube of custom made high quality glitter. I selected and combined a range of colours, all inspired by Melanie’s work. (Have also popped in a mini pot of PVA glue and a spreader.) You also have one of my very favourite pens!! I love all the Uni-ball Signo pens, but the sparkling metallic ones are extra special! I love using them on my journal pages and art work to add just a touch of sparkle here and there.

COLLAGE ELEMENTS

As usual you have some collage elements. Combining watercolour and collage in my journal spreads and art work is one of my favourite things to do.

  • Two tissue paper pieces, one with gold shimmer flecks and one with silver.
  • A piece tomoe river paper, with a watercolour design printed on and metallic paint accents added.

I thought both these collage elements would work well with little torn pieces added to journal pages to add texture and interest.
